There are some “usual problems” in Cosmic Encounters, but several of them are probably skill-based. In a way.

10:45 Try it again, give it another shot
Many people avoid a game after one bad experience; many avoid the whole MEDIUM of RPGs because such an experience.
Start with something different but close, like Microscope, then move to Fiasco, then introduce D&D, etc. Start with a fun party game, something that’s easily digestible, and slowly increase the complexity by steps, to overcome the defamiliarization barriers.
End of the World roleplaying line

17:40 The New Direction For Our Strip
We explain it in our Patreon page, mostly re-posted here:

Eran and I have been dropping hints about the new direction Up to Four Players is going to take come 2017, and since we’re nearing mid-December, we want to share some stuff with you, as our backers.

The comic is turning to a more serialised route. Instead of one-strip jokes and occasional ongoing mini-plotlines, there’s going to be one story, and it’ll revolve around our four players and the characters they’ll be playing in an awesome, fantastical roleplaying setting, created by Nadav in the comic, and by Eran in the real world.

I’ll let Eran tell you a bit about the world and the game in a separate post. In this one I want to show you some preliminary sketches I doodled for the characters our characters will be playing (it’s confusing, but stick with us), and also share a little personal note.

Some of you came because you like board games and geeky stuff, and you’re not interested in our new direction; that’s fair, and thank you for being with us until now.

Some of you came because of various reasons, and you’re into RPGs anyway, and you’ll stay with us for the new direction because it interest you anyway. Great!

And some of you came because of board games, but in the meantime you’ve come to enjoy our style, and you trust that you’ll enjoy whatever it is we’re going to do, willing to go along for the ride. We’re well aware of you guys, and we’re hoping to give you (and any new readers) a soft landing into the world of RPGs!

22:00 We’re Probably Gonna Take a Break on January
We’ll of course freeze our Patreon page, so as not to charge anyone for this month.
